Rui Tiago studied at the conservatory under Susete Afonso and later attended the Escola Profissional de Artes da Beira Interior (EPABI) in Covilhã (Portugal) with Professor Frederico Fernandes. In 2018, he moved to Zurich to continue his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), where he completed his bachelor’s and first master’s performance with Louise Pellerin. He is currently pursuing a Master Specialized Music Performance – Major Orchester with Professor Martin Frutiger and did a voluntariat in Orchester Der Oper Zürich.
He received important musical impulses from Pedro Ribeiro, Ricardo Lopes, Frederico Fernandes, Bernhard Heirichs, Isaac Duarte, Omar Zoboli and more. He has performed under renowned conductors including Johannes Schlaefli, Reinhard Goebel, Lorenzo Viotti, Robert Houssart, Matthew Rowe, Simone Young and Fabio Luisi.
As an orchestral musician, he has played with the Zuger Sinfonietta, St. Gallen Chamber Orchestra, Neue Orchester Zürich, Zürcher Kammerphilharmonie, Almada Chamber Orchestra (Portugal), Musikkollegium Winterthur and Orchester Der Oper Zürich.
Rui is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
